The case of Furry Potato v. Synagogue:
Just prior to Furry Potato's brush with lead poisoning, the L'Simcha Congregation Synagogue in Pittsburgh was attacked by a NeoNotSee* resulting in 11 Jews not living** when they left Shabbat observances.
Because of that, plus the fact that the Synagogue housed a girls' Yeshiva***, the California Synagogue contracted for armed security. Given that the security guard himself was Jewish, he was personally invested in combating Antisemitism. Part of the conditioning of Israeli security operatives, the Mossad and the IDF are trained to wing the leg of an enemy they want alive for interrogation.
Furry Potato's/Steven Joaquin Perez's actions resulted in the Yeshiva going into lockdown, giving the security guard a MANDATE to neutralize any perceived threat to the Jewish Community. The D.A. recognized that fact plus the and differed prosecution.
*The algorithm considers the word, "N/zi", to be "against the interest of maintaining a safe online experience for all users of our platform." I get that they don't tolerate expressions of "W/ht S/prem/cy", but we should be able to discuss all aspects of WW2.
